Frequently asked questions.

Draft questions for launch — we'll expand this list based on what customers actually ask once the site is live.

Yes. Al Watan Halal Meats & Market at 1421 Market St, Kirkland, WA carries a full zabiha halal meat counter — beef, chicken, goat, and lamb — cut fresh to order, seven days a week.

No, not in general. Costco's standard meat department is not zabiha halal-certified, though some locations carry a small selection of halal-labeled poultry — availability varies by store. Al Watan's entire meat counter is 100% zabiha halal, with no non-halal items stored or cut alongside it.

Zabiha (dhabiha) is the Islamic method of slaughter: a trained hand cuts the animal's throat in a single motion while invoking the name of Allah, and the blood is fully drained. It's a more specific standard than "halal" used loosely, and it's how every cut at Al Watan's counter is prepared.

Shipments come in every Thursday, so Thursday through the weekend is when the counter is best stocked and the cut selection is widest.
